I walk up the lane, lacking a conclusion...

The walk up the lane, tortuous, painful,
the smirk on his face ate my brain.
A love I thought...perfect and without failure
,
no warnings, last minute blow to my spirit.

We danced under the light of the moon,
like two doves cuddled together in accord,
clinging together as if we were one,
hours passed...kissing and holding inseparable.

I surrendered my heart...my soul,
gave him my treasure to fulfill our commitment.

I submitted on his promise of eternal love,
never to abandon or be disloyal to our feelings.

He walked away without saying a word,
only a snicker left me knowing it was goodbye.
I waited a year to give in to the man I loved,
he walked away after our first union.

He stole my virginity...left me insulted,
ashamed and sickened of my gullible decision.
I felt disgraced and discarded like a harlot
alone to face the music of her own choice.

This didn't happen over night...
we knew each other for over a year.
He waited all this time to kill my spirit,
left me in uncertainity and without an option.

I walk up the lane...lacking a conclusion,
winds brush my heart with a cold awakening,
a double-crosser took my flesh...
a slime ball without a conscience.

I can soooo relate to this kind of emotion dear and talented Barbara. This poem seems, to me, like an emotional cathartic. Very personal and filled with powerful imagery and simile. Well done!

Oh my Barbara, I hope this is fiction! You really grab the heart with this one, and have me with misty eyes praying you aren't going through such heartache! Take care.

Love,
Eileen

Beautiful and heart-rending encounter and analysis, Barbara. You reach in and touch this pain and this shame so tenderly and yet with candour and great clarity. A lot of maturation takes place between that soiled and spoiled innocence and the awful realisation. The "act of desecration" stands between the two faces of the same person, the mask now removed... and between the careful giving of herself as a girl and, afterwards, the emotional menarche of the bruised heart of a knowing woman. Very powerful write, TY Kate xx

Beautiful sadness, Barbara. Sometimes, regardless of how hard a decision can be, we are better off to let go and move ahead with our own lives. Having just suffered a slow, and somewhat painful demise, in my own life, I know that some things are meant to be, even if the pain seems too much to bear, at the present.

Hang in there.

It is his loss and thank God you found out before you gave him more of your life. Love yourself for being who you are and having the ability to love as you can love and forgive him for not knowing for he will be the one that has lost and left alone. Love, Bonnie

He should be the one walking away with these thoughts, it just goes to show that some have no conscious, that is why they do it.
Emotional Write,,, Well done Barbara,, good to see you back!
