You say you can’t stop time
when you watch that miniature sailing ship
whirl gently from your ceiling
when you look into the eyes of the plush lion cub
standing atop the set of drawers
when you listen to that catchy tune
that strikes a nostalgic chord inside your bones
when you play with the bauble
that’s like a rosewindow
which you call an oil puzzle
and see how the colors form and flow
casting sensuous shadows
do you not in a fashion bend the concept of time?
So, for heaven’s sake stop complaining
about the hours, the months,
and the years that go by re-lent-less-ly
Oh, you are getting old, aren’t you?
and your skin wrinkles, your back aches
and your teeth gnash
have you forgotten the growth pains
of the adolescent
your first period, all that blood gone wasted?
the cycle goes on, you maintain
yes it does, and you become
the seed from which
a new generation will grow
the fertilizer of youth
Is that not time rescucitated?
