My Sunshine Nurse

I felt the touch of your gentle hands
as you ministered to my needs;
You were so patient as you worked,
dedicated in all your deeds.

Each time you walked into my room
the sunshine came in with you,
and I could feel its warming rays
as God's love softly filtered through.

The little things you did for me
to help me get well again
fulfilled a need within my soul,
till I felt that you were a friend.

Others may tackle the daily tasks
you cheerfully complete
and put on a half-hearted smile
for all the patients they have to treat.

But your smile comes
right from your heart,
speaking in volumes rare
of true compassion, tender touch
and loving, Christlike care.

I saw the love of Jesus
when I looked upon your face;
Were you obeying a higher call
to work in the Master's place?
