She couldn't take everything. Could she leave behind her most precious possession?
The Old Valentine
I know the lace is tattered;
the colors are faded and dim,
but the words that you see
in this old valentine
were a love song
to me from my Jim.
'Twas written when we were
still young, my dears,
and sung by a groom
to his sweet blushing bride.
It brings back the day that he sang it,
my sweetheart, my Jim.
Don't ask me to throw it away,
my dears,
it won't take much room,
See, the paper is thin.
It's all I have left of
my darling, my Jim.
"The mystery of love is that the more you give,
the more remains in your heart."
