Let the old VW rust
softly,safely
in our yard,
a good steed
who will be allowed
to rest in peace.
Put out to pasture,
not sent to a junkyard.
Our faithful servant,
gray container of
Odyssean college memories--
so soon set to
ferrying groceries and children--
you will recombine
with the Universe
