1st Day of the Mushroom Festival. Rained out, but making the best of it.

Hurricane rain--
if you're not too close
and bone dry--
is a glory thing.

Gusting, gray,
the sweet hot breath
of the Tropics
calypso talk
from the Caribbean
a sauna sweat soaked
raining raining raining
gushing gutters
gurgling splashing,
creek roaring
under the old bridge.

Evening Hanna
sweeps her skirts,
ragged gray rushing
breaking blue shards
flung and the rainbow
bridge arching
from Earth to Heaven,
her magic
does not fade.

Even the rush of words and the pace of the poem create the feel of Hurricane Hanna--the pounding of the rain.

Nor does your magic fade, Juliet. I love the way you made
the best of it. Hanna was a pussy cat at the shore. -gene.

I know those hurricane rains all too well, Juliet. And now we have Ike to contend with, with the possibility of 3 to 6 inches of rain and even tornadoes! Ick. HOPE not. MORE than ready for hurricane season to be GONE. Excellent imagery, despite the rain: at least good weather for mushrooms! Well done.

(((HUGS))) and love, Karla.
