A persona who doesn't show up much, but when she does, look the heck out! (Reaction to this poem seems to indicate I should have called it: Manic Phase
Inside me there is
an enormous baby,
red-cheeked, big,
a regular bear
of a kid, crowing
and waving thick fat
legs in the air, then
on all fours crawling,
a diapered menace:
ATTACK OF THE
ENORMOUS BABY!
Toppling whole cities like
bright blocks,
smiling, drooling, taking
up the whole sky,
a shining cartoon pig
of a baby,
rocking back and forth
laughing and screeching,
all gums and
wet crinkled eyes
ha-ha-ha-ing
until those shriveled
others
go deaf.
