A late night and a sci-fi/fantasy overdose. :)

Waves like dogs
rush up the sand
to their feet
and swirls
around their legs,
while rain falls
so warm—

They shiver anyway
And turn their gaze
from birds hurtling
after silver flashes
that skip in azure shallows
to each other.
It is pain
not to touch.

Suspended in my dream
they—
gilded in light
and longing,
while strange birds
scream over a
twilight sea.

Quite a surreal piece, it's very evocative, and reminds me how we (humanity) were once in love with nature, and then fell out of love with her as we grew to believe we were separate from her....so its stirs many things in me this one...nice play with light, bird, dream - all symbols coherent to the poetic language.

I like alien stories but this poem could be applied to so many and so much that I think it is perfect.
