We Have the Write to Freedom

In this life we bow down to the expectations
Become bland like the five star meal
That forgot its spices
We became the ordinary
Bold striking vibrant plumage
Plucked out one by one in time
To become just another one of the blackbirds
Rather than be forever shot at
What we may want to be is now clouded
Over so many years of realization
That it is the nail that juts out
That gets the hammers strike
Now we know too well not to shake
When we dare to step out of my lines
To speak what is unexpected
My write is to be free
Quietly but fully me
I do not care about convention or structure
I let my thoughts pour out
Without chains, I ignore the rules
I force myself to never read too much
Lest I  forget my own words
Give us all the strength to question
Even the most basic precept of our lives
Let us all dare to let loose ourselves
Even if it must be on a silent page
Divulging our dirty little secrets
Giving our shameful doubts of society
It is your write to tell truth
To go deeper, give more,
To make it your write to have meaning
To say how much you hate domestic bliss
Or take guilty pleasure in domesticity
To say you feel like another cog in the machine
As you march off to a mediocre job
Your pen sets you free if only
You will free your pen
Tied in and restrained
You live thousands of rules,
Truly live and see and speak as you see life
Dare to step into the line of fire
Lend a voice we have not heard
Tell everything as it is
Not how you wish it to be
How you are told it is
Be boldly free…come flying in on wings of fire
And you will know YOU have arrived

An interesting, almost, utopian vision of exemption and getting free from the societal shackles that bind most earth-dwellers. One can only hope that one remains influential with such a mind-set. Thankyou for this insightful write.
