How love turns into anger spilling out in quibbles
Anything, any fight, any way not to feel
You run until your lungs feel like they’ll explode
We make a sketchy truce balanced precariously
Between love and ruination
You have a thousand excuses for all this
Sabotage conscious or unconscious
Must not connect, lest you
Fall again as you have always fallen
Painfully and forlorn, soon forgotten
Who am I, but a shadow of the best discarded past
Now, in this glimmer of your untrusting eyes
So pick your fights and draw your lines
I am ready for the gravel of your heart
I was not waiting for you anyhow
Long ago, I learned to be alone
Know that I never needed you
It was only a wanting, a loving,
A deep pull like muscles drawn taught
Releasing you, I move on
Again and again as always I have had to
To leave you to fight your fear of me
Love that is not soul love will swing from love to hate, once in a while there will be a period of uneasy stability.
