Again my head is overfull
Tipped & spilling thoughts
Out over my pillow
Where peace once rest
The ceiling I know intimately
Caressing each sadness
The bed seems to grow
Too big and I too small
Crisp clean sheets
Too sterile & cold
To remember passion
Remind me in contrasts
What the bed did once hold
I forget what I came for
Time creeps slowly to dawn
When bright light loudly cries
For the sleep now gone forever
Like the dark unsaids
Swallowed whole in yesterdays
Devoured by imagined tomorrows
There is no peace in my bed
Sounds so eerily familiar. Gave up years ago trying to sleep through the night, now I work on puzzles, needlepoint, crochet or find other things to keep my interest until I get tired again. Sure make it rough trying to stay awake during the day though, nice piece...

well said... the body might rest, but not while the mind wanders on, through memories and what if's and the one's that slipped away...
No peace was in my bed for months and months, til I asked my doctor for sleeping pills. Now he gave me them and I sleep long and dream some too but wake up each day realizing it is time to get out of bed and do my things. I don't see anything wrong with taking sleeping pills if approved by your doctor. If you don't sleep your minds gets to wandering too much and you can become very ill. I'd rather sleep then not and let it be such a long night. I do think this write is good and informative though, but wish you sweet dreams each night now. Counting sheep like they say to do does not work either. I tried that many times to no avail. Sometimes it is what you eat before going to bed that keeps you awake too or the caffeince you take before bedtime. Anyway pleasant dreams and have a happy day.
Questions, unquestioned discoveries, and answers in parable and rhyme…. This collection records a journey starting with a 1960s retrospective and the first man on the moon, moving to a new millennium welcomed in with a terrorist spin, family crises,
