But I hated the truth enough
To swallow outrageous lies

Rather then the roughly sketched
Portraits in charcoal jagged lines

In lies to keep me from the enemy Alone
Tangled in the tight knots of wishes
Unfulfilled but shining remembered
In each act of the monologue of you
You cleverly fake being all I want
& I pretend to believe you
Fiction slowly eclipsing nonfiction
Filling our pages with sweet nothings
Until we forget all we are, all we were
