Security Deposit

I’m going to claim this room-

To have space to love myself,

I’m going to give everything I have

Before you come around again

Causing damage and creating destruction.

It’s time I start believing in myself

So I’m going to sign my name on the dotted line,

Stating, “That before I love someone or something      else, I’m going to love me first.”

I can give my heart

This is truly all I have

So I can sit inside this open room,

Hopefully somewhere in between being broken

And being hopeful,

I can learn to love me
