My nephew asked me to speak in the church at his wedding. Honored to do so, I wrote him and his new Bride this poem.
To keep a happy marriage brimful Appreciate each others love Never take each one for granted Never push and never shove To compliment…a simple action So give them often, they are free Enjoy the simple things in life To find that perfect harmony Say, “I love you” fairly often Never sleep when you are mad Hold hands as you grow older And hold each other when you sad Not only love will keep you happy So have a friendship that is strong Never boast when you are right And say, “I’m sorry” when you’re wrong If you heed these simple treasures You’ll fall in love time and again And grow old with one another To reminisce…remember when?
