Waiting waiting in the broiling sun
To catch the ferry to Ellis Isl-und
A small thing to bear
When we considered what they
Did when they came here
From far far away
And then we saw the lady
The Lady with her flame
And freedom was never
Just a word, just a name
The goosebumps arose
When we put it all in thought
Our ancestors first glimpse
At our homeland was naught
Taken for granted
And it still shouldn't be
At least that's how I felt
When visiting there, you see
Hello, Lynn Barry, my dear sweet friend! Although I have never seen the Statue of Liberty in person, seeing pictures of the glorious lady during 9-11, one can only wonder what she thought of the horrendous actions of the day. Still she stands so proud, in all her might, radiating visions of those whose feet stood beneath her with pride, hoping to capture great things for the future. Great write. Your frind, Joyce
