Mrs. Stickler:
The Widow in A Little White House

Check on a neighbor
who is old and gray.
See if she needs to
go to the store today.

Perhaps she needs you to go,
and does not have a way.
No matter if it is out of your way.
God will surely bless you today.

I miss my little lady
who would always say,
"God bless you over and
over and over again".

One day I noticed her bag
was filled with cat food
when we returned from the store.
I contacted Senior Resources.

Human meals were delivered daily.
The house was in desperate need
of repair. "HOMEWORKS" Volunteer
Youth gave her home a makeover.

I have never seen such a great big
smile as I did the day she called
me to come when the governor of our
State came to visit her.

She told him I was her angel
and when she leaves this world
she would always be near me.
I believe she is.
I feel her presence at all times.
When I pass the old house
a tear comes to my eyes.

I know she is never far away
from me. She was so loving.
I know her words were true .
I will always remember the
smile on her face as she stood
in the doorway after a real good
meal in her nice clean place.
They gave her a housekeeper too.
