I saw the first star up bright
In the darkness of the night
I wished my wish straight away
So my wish would come true today.
I didn’t wish for diamond rings
Fancy computer games or other things
I wished for things that I truly need
To protect me from someone else’s deed.
I wished for a new bullet proof vest
A gas mask, bomb detector and the rest
A filter so I can clean my drinking water
And a world to bring up my son or daughter.
For this world is truly a crazy place
Separated by creed, colour and race
It’s hard enough with natural disasters
Without people killing sisters and brothers.
What is it that life has taught me?
To live my life in peace and harmony?
Unfortunately it is sad for me to say
It’s only taught me today could be my last day.
