Amen and Thanks

I looked toward heaven
And I asked for God to hear
The problems churning inside my head
Leaving me miserable with anxiety and fear.

Then when I voiced the word amen
I knew I’d left something unsaid
I had forgotten to thank God
For the list of blessings I’d penned
Still lying on my bed.

I looked toward heaven again
Weighing my blessings against my complaints
Realizing the problems that I faced
Were nudges to remind me to say, “thanks”.

When I had voiced my gratefulness to God
For the blessings he had bestowed
I knew he would continue to bless me
Because of all the good seeds I’d sowed.

He just won't do it in a way you're expecting. He's funny like that. This poem is a good reminder to all about being thankful for what we've got. At the top of my list is always my health and the health of my loved ones. A nicely penned inspirational poem, Jeanette. Love and Hugs,
Sheila

Jeanette, the first thing I do every morning after rising is to thank God for the blessings he has given me in my life...no matter how big or small, and I find that my day begins on a much better note. This is an excellent poem...a gentle reminder and a positive piece.
