I sat this morning reviewing the week ahead inside my classroom. I like to take a few moments and analyze each of my students, to try ensure that I am giving them as an individual what they need. As I was browsing their grades, my memories, and planning...I was reminded of how much I have missed my students during our holiday break. I stumbled across this picture of one of my students saved on my computer...and well the rest just poured from the heart...I hope you enjoy it...

This is a unique topic for a poem. I would love to have a position with so many priceless rewards! This is a wonderfully written glimpse into the "Magic" you get to see so often. I often hear teachers say that they are lucky to reach/affect one or two students. I have a hunch that you surpass that goal on a yearly basis. Kids of this age will always remember a teacher/mentor who appreciates them as much as you clearly do. Thank you for sharing this poem, Joyce!

I was always "teacher's pet"-- Clown, goof-off outer wear, but inside, they knew I was really a super-shy gal too self-conscious to want to put the "real me" out there-- so I put the super facade out there-- way out there instead. My school chums and I performed plays and musical acts (for money) during recesses. 5 cents a ticket! Hey, it was lunch money. But I can't remember my chum's names anymore, and I can my teachers-- every last one of them... --Charlie

Joyce, your students are blessed to have someone who is caring and understand like you are. We never know what is in the heart & mind of a child...we never know how they've been treated at home or if they ever get a smile or a kind word. It makes me feel good to know someone does care and tries to get in those little minds to feel what they need to help them cope and feel at ease. Teacher's leave an ever lasting impact on their students and I know your students will always remember you as a special teacher.
A teacher is the nearest a human being can be as he or she aren't men and women of the clothes, but as well vocationally serving God's purposes to take on His children.

So many reviews already... they show how much we care and how important it is, for a parent, to know that there are teachers who feel this way; who are loving and and motivated, giving the best they can, looking at each child and understanding them.
I remember my first grade teacher so clearly... her name was Fraulein Braun. In Germany, when you are a little person, an older Lady is called a 'Fraulein'. At least back in my days.
However, Fraulein Braun impacted my life in a very positive way and some thirty years later she's still on my mind.
I know how much you love these kids but I also know how great of an impact you are!
