The moon sings lullaby
forest sleeps silverlight
the river.
When a deer digs his toe with thirst
running around the soft silent leaves.
His big eyes like the mirror made of star
and his skin aglow inside the wishper wind
his heart.
Far and wide he treads.
When a deer is hungry
the earth lifts her bosom to feed him.
And the orange lights the grace in the sky.
But when the earth trembles fears
in his tiny ears.
Slowly, slowly, the forest stretches his arms
still sleepy from the night song.
The beasts are awake now, they are out of their caves.
Their teeth and claws all sharpened and ready.
When a deer in the pitch darkness of his closed eyes.
Mistakes the moon for a pool
he will get no time to chew his grass.
This is beautiful, Roshan. I read so much more in the message than just the animals we normally think of. Maybe the deer...a child; the beast...man. I suppose the thought lies within the reader :o)

I agree with Aleja, a nice little respite from a day hard at work on the novel.
A beautiful piece, with some unique and vivid imagery. Nature's beasts can be quite ruthless with gentler creatures, I only hope the little dear has a fast set of legs to run with!
If you tend to believe romantic, passionate, masculine poetry is a thing of past eras, read "She Intrigues Me," and be swept away in the beautiful craft of a contemporary poet of love.
great imagery
enjoyed reading
