              Waltzing through life..........

Why must life be so difficult and unsure,
work hard, play hard, try to be good.
The bible says believe, keep faith at your side,
yet so many I meet would not if they could.

All wrapped up in the moment of the day,
pick kids up after school, is it my turn to drive.
Go home, fix dinner, then homework and baths,
tomorrow is coming, is this how we survive.

Waltzing through life with children in tow,
never stopping to think how fortunate we are.
Days become months, then turn into years,
one day we stop, take notice from afar.

The heavens open up, north star still shining,
one famous torch that will always burn bright.
Wherever we may go, whatever we may do,
a remembrance of one very special night.

All the while, you paid him no mind,
he continued to watch, guide you through.
Helping you make all the decisions at hand,
gently moving me as well as you.

When the time comes, your children are grown,
he already knows you will return to the fold.
Years of struggle, worry and doubt,
all become crystal clear as we grow old.

You soon realize and yet question again,
why did I not believe, why did I not trust.
Your life has been good, your children are well,
time to celebrate, with God feel robust.

We do waltz through life...sometime missing a step or two...but it all comes back...the timing and the wisdom...realizing the beauty in the dance...security of belief.

Outstanding reflections illuminate thoughts off these lines!
A write worth the waltz . . .
Thankfully in His reverence . . .

Karen,
This sounds like some of the things I've regretted, then later learned to pull it all back together and realize AND admit to myself I need to get back to the basic: God.

This is good, really good. It is a fine narrative on life. Another thing I really like about this piece is your use of ballad meter in quatrains...it works perfectly with the title.

A wonderful write full of reality as we know it. Life is challenging at times and often we do seem to go in a robotic format, we exist from day to day and survive for the next one. Life does pass quickly, it seems as only a few years ago that I was the parent in the line to pick up my children, I was the parent at the doctor with a child and a runny nose, I was the parent secretly filling the stocking on Christmas eve...My children are both married with children of their own making their own family traditions and visits to the doctor...life is as John said...vapor on water...you've touched me deeply with this write my friend. I sit alone tonigth with my laptop and my trusty little terrior by my side, my husband is at work, and both kids are at their homes...I've been thinking about the quiet still house and not stumbling over toys, or finding dishes hidden in their bedrooms, or reminding them to turn the t.v. off at 9:00, it passes very quickly. You'll have to excuse me, as much as I love the peace and the quiet and my choice of movies, or Internet time...I can't help but have a bit still have a bit of empty nest syndrome occasionally, especially during summer vacation, I find myself missing my students as well! Again, enjoyed this much!
Blessings,
Joyce B.

Never, never doubt. Enjoy the present momment, it will never return. The most used words in the bible are FEAR NOT...An order, not a suggeation...Fear not is in there over 366 times, enough for one everyday.

Fear is paralysis, and to put that into ones heart is the devils dream....

Karen, life goes by much to quick, and sometimes we hesitate to hold onto the most precious moments of all. Sometimes we even forget to thank the Almighty for our childrens health, our homes, food on the table, etc., because we are so caught up in the moments. We take so much for grant and forget things could have be terrible for us. This poem makes me want to give thanks and thank you for sharing.
