        Mediocre resolution....

Please tell me what is it that we see,
when staring out above buildings and trees.
Beyond the ocean white caps and ripples,
passing the moon through the indigo tease.

Into the abyss of darkness and cold,
laying silently, mysteriously, so vast and wide.
All the celestial stars birthing new light,
the next generation inside the clouds hide.

Places we see, yet remain so out of reach,
as we sit and wonder from mediocre resolution.
Why must our true home be so distant to attain,
climbing higher and higher to seek a solution.

Quiet time is to relax on the wood pier,
listening to the ocean sing her tireless tune.
Salt water slapping way down below,
a never ending rhythm fades away too soon.

Wailing, high pitched, shrill cry of seagulls,
as they gracefully glide, wings widespread.
Rhythmic light circles from dusk until dawn,
ocean sparkles, and glistens forsaking the dread.

Lighthouse on shore with a baritone voice,
calls out to the buoy with a lonely bell.
Two melancholy tones blend as one,
centuries of stories yet not a word to tell.

Close your eyes, incorporate sweet music,
as it penetrates erasing all other sound.
Temporarily leaving the body behind,
free the mind and spirit in one single bound.

Exploring boundaries with new eyes,
capturing all life as never before.
Cleansing the soul of past hurt and sorrow,
weights lifted, returning to shore.

Mind clear, body relaxed, soul in repair,
inhale the salty air, welcome a new day.
Another opportunity to begin this life anew,
try to make a difference, try to have your say.

I enjoyed this poem; it reminds me of the ocean and the water that I love. The seagulls and the smell of the salt water, and the calmness and birth as one takes in the smells, sounds and sights. Keep on speaking as nature speaks to you.

Karen, line for line, you capture and caress the spirit (and
serenity) of the sea. Suely, there is nothing mediocre in
these lines:

Lighthouse on shore with a baritone voice,
calls out to the buoy with a lonely bell.
Two melancholy tones blend as one,
centuries of stories yet not a word to tell.

Thank you for this, gene.

Felt like you were writing about one of my own visits to the beach and the Atlantic Ocean shores. I love to sit and watch the breakers and the froth on the waves as it rushes to the beach. There is something almost magical in the smell of brine and the crisp clean air that comes in with the tide. Thank you for reminding me that I need a walk on the beach...soon.
