Remember.......

              Remember.......

 

Family, friends, home, and country,
all disrupted in the blink of an eye.
Bright and sunny, no clouds in sight,
picture perfect beautiful clear sky.

Remember......

Hustle and bustle in early morning,
of folks heading off to begin their day.
Flag a cabbie, waiting at a bus stop,
traveling highways, a train on its way.

Remember......

Who would have guessed or even surmised,
the unfolding events about to take place.
This day now forever etched in history,
the clean up sanitized, left not a trace.

Remember......

In an instant all our lives changed,
unknowing, unaware, uncertainty abound.
Trying to deal with facts and logic,
another airplane is in the ground.

Remember......

So many lives without reason cut short,
why did this happen, how can this be?
Stockbrokers, CEO's, window washers,
cleaning crews, cooks, children of three.

Remember......

Pilots, flight attendants, mothers, and fathers,
people missing leaving families in a bubble.
Children who had a full life yet to live,
police and firefighters lost in rubble.

Remember......

Plumes of foul powder filled the air,
as others lay choking on the ground.
All the chaos, was no reason for this,
as innocent souls are now heaven bound.

Remember......

Slowly, reverently walking past what was,
those majestic twin towers, Liberty Plaza no more.
A profound emptiness for all who see,
a void, a torn soul, reaching down to the core.

Remember......

Now years later, what have we learned?
So many hearts are still filled with hate.
Why is it so difficult to show genuine compassion?
Will we ever learn? Have we sealed our fate?

**Dedicated to our family, friends, home, and country. Those killed, permanently injured, and children left to grow up without their mother and father.

I remember and can never forget. I had my six month old son in the car and it came on the radio. I looked at him in his car seat and fear ran through my blood. What of his future?

How could one ever forget (911). a shamefull day in history and shows only God holds and knows the future. Thank you Karen for your insight and understanding; that hearts must change if humanity it to remain. Peace!!!

THE UNITY THAT I SAW FOLLOWING THAT TRAVESTY WAS ONE I WILL NEVER FORGET BUT WILL ALWAYS REMEMBER...I SAW PEOPLE, STRANGERS, FLOCKING TOGETHER TO SUPPORT ONE ANOTHER REGARDLESS OR COLOR, CREED OR STATION, I SAW AN AMERICA THAT STOOD TOGETHER AND CRIED TOGETHER. TO QUOTE ANOTHER AUTHOR; IT WAS THE WORST OF TIMES...IT WAS THE BEST OF TIMES. BUT MANY FORGET QUICKLY AND REMEMBER ONLY TO HATE NOT THE LOVE THAT KEPT US TOGETHER AS A NATION AND WHICH WILL CONTINUE TO KEEP US TOGETHER. ONLY LOVE FOR GOD AND COUNTRY WILL KEEP US STRONG. ODDLY ENOUGH, I HAVE HEARD THE TESTIMONY OF SEVERAL VICTIMS OF THIS HORRIFIC ACT AND THEY ARE NOT THE ONES THAT FOSTER HATE...IT IS USUALLY THE ONES WHO HAD NO FAMILY MEMBERS LOST THAT SPEAK UNFORGIVINGLY. A tribute to all Americans who remember, who were injured, and who gave their all. No, we did not think we were at war but because we are Americans we sometimes take the fall. Thank you Karen from one grateful American.

Wonderfuly written Karen. I am an optomist at heart. My hope is if we try and each of our lives to spread a little love and faith but the way we live it can and will make difference.We all have this love within us, we just need to use it.Thank you again for such a beautiful memorial poem.

Your words, Karen, bring back that morning in such clear detail. I was getting ready to go to work and my wife called me into the bedroom to see what had happened. Of course the whole thing was horrifying and surreal. After watching for about forty-five minutes, I told her, "I'm going to go to work." Maxine asked why go today?" I remember answering, "If I don't they win." and went to work.

Very powerful and sad. Nice job Karen. I always like to say: on 9/11, 2001 we were attacked from without, every other day since then we've been attacked from within. Makes you wonder doesn't it?

A poignant and powerful tribute to a day no one should forget. I think we all know what we were doing when we heard. I'd just gotten out of work. I watched the story unravel on the news. At first, I thought it was fake; a movie clip or something. Great writing, Karen. Hugs,

The tears will continue to flow, the words will continue to be written but most of all we must all ensure that the hope that came with the tragedy will also stay with us for the promise of a better day for our children's children...

I live in walking distance from those tragic towers and remember that grim morning only too well. To this day that utter horror is beyond my understanding.

Lost two buddies there with children that were to grow without their fathers because we have let an insane "religion" to grow and fester the world with its repugnant ideas based on a God that doesn't wanted any of them and that feels the same repulsion as the rest of us.
They that sow hate can't expect to harvest peace.

Thank you for the reminder. I, for one, will not forget what happened on 9/11 or Pearl Harbor. I will also not forgive those that lied to start two wars costing thousands of young American's their lives. I will not forgive those that spew hate and lies using the media and Internet to spread divisiveness among Americans too lazy to check the facts and the truth for themselves. Then there are the greedy that will trample children and grandmothers to make another dollar like that Wall Street Broker that ran a Ponzi scheme bilking billions from millions.
