                     Optimism Persists....

Life seems to be changing at such a pace,
grappling old and new, in God we trust.
Our representative republic is vanishing,
confiscated, overrun with big ideas and lust.

More difficult to comprehend every day,
seeing all that once was, is no more.
Families losing livlihoods and home,
hearts and souls humbled to the core.

Others standing on the brink of the unknown,
turning to God for spiritual clarification.
We continue to value what little remains,
hoping and praying to avoid nullification.

Yet, even at the most grim, optimism persists,
when one makes the time to explore.
The truth is out there when we have faith,
as God sheds a blanket from shore to shore.

In the sanctity of his loving arms,
we find enlightenment for eternal salvation.
The sun will rise and the sun will set,
in the never-ending saga of man's deliberation.

Material gains are never meant to last;
always cyclical we win some we lose some.
Spiritual achievement is the better way,
as no one can diminish when day is done.

Jesus was sacrificed for all to live free,
clemency and compassion filled his heart.
Rising into heaven to sit with his father,
yet, from us he had no intention to depart.

It is the illusive emotional bonding that ties,
all humankind to our one Creator above.
We work hard; we play hard, always a goal,
reaching out to others in the name of love.

Life seems to be changing at such a pace,
grappling old and new, in God we trust.
Our representative republic is vanishing,
confiscated, overrun with big ideas and lust.

For us living beings, God is more. The expressions of His will to revive and reside with us are told well in this writing. On the belief of God, no matter what religion we tend to, our persistent survival instincts, our replenishing procreation, our creativity, and many of our attributes are evidence to God's powerful creative existence; this is not to prove His existence, but for us, who refuse to believe, to realize where we come from. It is difficult for us to see that we came from someone, but we give birth to young; that means that someone gave birth to us (our beginning). The time comes, and I will be happy to be made better. Thank you, Karen, for sharing this with us. Enjoy creating, always.

I live easily without the crutch of god... gods, because life is becoming better all the time for most in spite of the unfortunate few who fall victim to their predijices or nature.

Dear Karen, you expressed today's situation with art and love. Unfortunately neither the anointed one nor his apostles seem to underatand the plight of the people, but soon things may change and the order will be reestablished. Love Emile

Karen, the indomitable spirit that is the core of America, this God loving nation will prevail. Our tests will be many. Today, more than ever the tide of opposition to the forces of tyranny that would foster our demise from within is mounting. We shall overcome as a nation and as a force of citizens with unprecedented unity. Freedom will once again reign in America, May peace and love be with you my dear friend. Jon Michael

your poetry always offers us such wonderful truths Karen
and I especially love this line:

"Spiritual achievement is the better way,
as no one can diminish when day is done."

so often it is harder to seek this
as we each all want the materialistic
our nice homes & cars & job...
but too living with spiritual abundance & seeking
offers us the emotional wealth we all can attain...

May Love's Bounty Always Embrace You

Karen this one says soooo much. I know as a historian you have seen that the price for a new beginning does not come cheap. I have listened to the voices of my American cousins and wonder how long it will be before the people rise up again in anger, frustration and just hunger to say enough is enough. Billions are spent yearly on defence budgets, billions are spent on research, billions are spent on foreign aid but does this do any good for the hungry who can't feed their families, the sick who can't afford treatment or medicine, or the homeless who continue to multiply with no jobs to be had.
I don't claim to know the answers and I don't believe isolation from other countries is the answer as some claim (buy American only lobbyists), perhaps it is time for our governments to rethink the priorities of a nation that is so obviously hurting. Sorry for rambling but I look at the budgets for the military of both our countries and just shake my head wondering why the US government has more concern over military strength than the healthcare of its own citizens...
