Poem Artwork

As the dust grows on the furniture,

Is the grass on the lawn.

The tiredness in my body,

Signals energy all gone.

Mother Nature’s way of showing,

Seasons change year to year.

Makes a person seek the kitchen,

Chips and dip, and another beer.

See the mirror every morning,

Wonder who is looking back.

Yawns and stretches make me wanting,

To get back in the sack.

Another day of work and labor,

Gotta do, to pay the bills.

So I sing another country song,

And pop another pill.

Glory days around the corner,

My gray hair signals that.

As my clothes seem to tell me,

That I am getting fat.

As the dust grows on the furniture,

Is the grass on the lawn.

Now my body says to hurry,

You better make it to the “John”.

Haha! Fantastic poetry, I'm grinning all over, and that photo, makes me think of the song "Here in Topeka," by Loretta Lynn.
