Poem Artwork
There are times, we all need to regroup.
We can come to welcome the shadows,
Or we can fight them.
They may "seem" so, inviting,
A place of resting, a place we can retreat from the world.
A place we "may" wallow in. For all the pains we are feeling
Past and present, and sometimes imagined.

A time we can feel, that we just plain wish to give up.
That we can tell ourselves, "why even bother",
"What is the point?", or "what do "I" matter".

Or,

We can stand back up and keep fighting
Anew and perhaps a bit slower, and a little tired,
But still ,..Refreshed.

Life is, What we make it.
Don't let the Shadows,
"keep" you from the Sunshine.

******************************************
This was written early this morning
After the silence of the night was
Shattered by the
ringing of the phone. At 1:30AM

Thank Goodness my child is safe,
but had gotten into some trouble.
Teenage years are not "just" a time, of the suffering of youth.
Parents suffer also.
Having to "Watch", as our children live, learn, and struggle with life lessons,
That we ourselves, at one time, have had to learn. .

I ended up kind of "Snow Balling" into my place of "Shadows"...

17 year olds, thinking they are grown.
And no longer in need of supervision.
"They" after all know all the answers *S*

And this one, is now GROUNDED!!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I am not sure at all "why", my paintings are consisting of the same subject matter?
But...... For everything, there "is" a reason. *S*
Journey Through Shadows
by D. Enise — Read all 64 poems by D. Enise
I step outside, on into the night.
The darkness, so soothes me,
I feel Protected, and safe.
I Find comfort,
within all the shadows.
like old friends,
that have just reunited.
A place where alone
Can, become accepted.
Where pain hurts no longer,
The way that it once had.
A place I can feel,
I finally belong.
For all that I am,
or all that I was.
No hidden meanings,
It simply just "is",
My blanket of Solace,
As I shed all my tears.
No lustful hands seeking
physical fulfillment,
without the regards
of another ones feelings.
No selfish whims
No burdens to bare
No idle chatting,
pretending to care.
No lies, or cheating
no stealing of hearts
no proclamation of loyalty
No stabs in the back.
Just the safety of shadows,
The quiet of night
The stars and the moon
So why should I fight?
I can no longer feel ,
the light that's been shinning,
that I had once lived
Had I only been dreaming?
I can't seem to fit, here.
I have no sense of belonging.
No one to reach to,
No heart that is calling.
~*~
The "truth" however
still lives in my heart,
That will not be denied
Even in dark;
Light, still it's yearning
For as long as hearts beating,
My pretense of not fighting
Who am I kidding?
I had opened my heart
Have been trusting and yielding
Loving and open,
Honest and giving.
And after a time,
My tears, having shed
I realize again,
That the light is within
As the darkness fades,
As the Sun breaks to dawn
Light fills the sky
I awaken, Again.
Oh, I DO like this! Very profound and telling...
"The "truth" however
still lives in my heart,
That will not be denied
Even in dark;"
This is my favorite...
