Poem Artwork

Who is it,..we See

by D. Enise — Read all 64 poems by D. Enise

Just next door
A fine old house
With landscaped yard,
And white picket fence.

Stagnant the waters
of the swamp by day,
Infested with mosquitoes,
Littered in Trash,
thrown, recklessly away.

Overgrown brush,
Dried out , and dying
despite, the nourishment
of waters, life giving.

Ignored, and passed by,
Or a scowl and a curse
By the neighbor next door,
Who lives in the house.

The "crazy" old lady
That walks down the street
rambling, or shouting
And to "whom", does she speak?

Adorning herself,
In discards of others
She cover's herself
Layer, after layer's.

Pushing a shopping cart
Filled with her life,
packing it full,
With this, and with that.

"Get out of my trash,
Be on your way!"
The shouting of those,
On the streets that are paved.

He stands on the corner
Toothless and frail
He's missing an arm
And reeks from a smell.

He's avoided, and shunned
Told to head out,
"Your disturbing my customers"
The store owner, shouts!

The heat of the day,
The old wagon gives out
The child in the back seat
plays with a book.

The second lane over
From the shoulder, and safety
Stalled and steaming
Old car on the freeway.

The young driver, determined.
she has children to tend
The hospitals not far?,
It's just up ahead.

Men in suits,
flashy red cars
Convertible tops..
Sun, shinning warm.

Dark covered glasses,
to cover the eyes,
They say with a shout,
As they drive right by..

"Get out of the way!"
"I am late cause of YOU"
You miserable pain!"
Have you no clue?"

Women on cell phones
Windows rolled up
Pretend not see her,
Never look up.

They drive on by
With backwards vision,
As they look in the mirror
at the "horror/whore" in reflection

With the fading of time,
The sun sets at last.

And So awakens the night.
Revealing in shadows..
What, Darkness, can cast.
Where Sun Light, has blinded.

~*~

A soft warm glow
From the light in the yard
laughter and smiling
Barbeque on..

The stars and moon
Reflecting and shine
On the water, that shimmers
off the lake, that's near by.

~Who would have thought?!

Gentle the lady,
Ever so lovely
in soft moons light
She looks like an angel

Smiles sweetly
down at a kitten
Who purrs at her side.
Snuggled in blankets.

~Sweet daughter of mine?..

On a bench in the park
under street lights aglow
A man touches a photo
Worn and so old..

Years long ago
Back in his youth
With his whole life before him,
Or so he had thought.

Five young men
smiling and laughing
boarding a plane,
All in uniform.

~A homecoming King~

All is quiet,
Dim light of the room,
The nurse walks in,
and checks the machines.

She touches the shoulder
Of the young woman there
And says "Have you eaten?
You look so pale".

"You come every night,
It's always the same
So young was his life
And he was so brave.

He still lays sleeping,
after so many years..
Having given his life
So others may live.

She touches the band
That encircles her finger,
And remembers the day
she married her fireman.

She steps outside,
Into the night
A child in her arms
And walks to the bus.

~Her father her, her mother
She never knew, her brother?
Adopted somewhere else too.

A man nods his head,
as he walks on by
to get into his car
Shinny and red.

He turns to look back,
Towards the nurse
that had called him.

"Doctor,..
wait!, you have forgotten,
Here are your files,
and your dark glasses."

~His father, his mother,
He never knew. His sister adopted,
By someone else too..

He thanks her,
And he turns to go.
While she turns away
And answers her phone.

~She was so young, to young
To raise children, her lover, her life
Had been killed on an Airplane.

~Looks, can be deceiving.
Any time, any place a "circumstance"
"Can" Change a life.. a Place,
"But".. so also can we, While we are able.

Least we remember,
To not judge another,
We have not walked in their shoes..

And we may never "know"..Who it is we are "looking" at..
~To "See" is to "look" with your heart....

Jen,
you are such an angel of mercy and compassion who is so "attuned" to others, while some others in this world keep on driving with the cell phones, shouting your in my way...Yes, not all "appear" to be what we percieve them to be or have to live with. And circumstances do happen because the holy father wants us to grow in his garden.Like a man in the store I meet could look like an ordinary person. And one wouldn't know he's fighting cancer and is about to loose his home.. This is an incredably powerful write..!It takes a very compassionate soul like you who has seen so much life yourself to have this beautiful gift of knowledge from the knowledge that Gods children teach us..The fact that you work with horses tells me intuitively that you are attuned with all the earth. Animals realy help us to learn about ourselves as well as God..You are a light worker with a speacial mission in this time.Peace always be with you sister of light..!!!

(((((Light and love, Jo)))))

Your music is lovely.

This brings tears to my eyes and a tingle down my spine. You are a woman with much wisdom. Putting words of truth into all that you write. This shows how much you care for life, and care so much for others. Thank you for this piece, it says a lot.
Peace, Love and Joy
