Looking out the Window Catch up?..

by D. Enise — Read all 64 poems by D. Enise

Catching up around here.
On all the "little" things;

Never seems enough time in a day,
To keep up with it all!

The this n that's..
The things "to do's"
Or the been put off's,
and the, "Not that too's"...

Like the laundry , that's been waiting
The porch, could use paint..
The lawn that needs mowing.
Or fixing, the gate.

But I look outside the window,
And the sun is shinning bright.
Just a few dishes, in the sink,
The floor?, still shinning nice.

Surely there can be no harm
If I wait, until later.
The Sun is so warm,
A perfect day
With a nice cool breeze, that's calling!.

And what's the point,
If I make the bed?
This morning or tonight?..
I can make it up before I sleep
And snuggle in just right.

I gaze upon the hill side,
The mares are coming in..
The colts at play on the way,
a run, a buck ,and kicking.

I look at the vacuum,
Standing sternly in the corner
What a grouch I think to myself
It has, no sense of humor!

I open up the window,
Soft west wind calling!,
I look back at the chores,
and struggle with decision.

The temperature outside the door,
Is so very perfect!
The sun is warm on my skin
And the wind is tantalizing.

So much for catching up,
Perfect days are rare!
There's always time to get caught up,
And if not?... "oh well"!

And beside,....
(When all else fails, rationalize!)

The horses are in need of riding
The hills stretched out for miles
Calling for my exploring!!
We all need exorcize !

Just a little Fun!
Well I "do" look at most things in life this way.
Don't get me wrong, There is a time that
The "Day" outside, will, and does have to wait..(not very often though)
And the "chores" do get taken care of around here *S*.

My point is,
That "some" of the Day's, when you "can" be your own boss,
There are no rules that say "Do things in THIS order"
(Well maybe there are, but I am a bit of a rebel sometimes *Grin*, well ok, "most" times *Bigger Grin*)
.. We are here "now"
Alive,, so are those we care about..
And if tomorrow should never come,
Would you rather, the house be "immaculate",
Or that you took "some" time and "lived"?
It is ok to Play ....... I hope you do.

Hi, those days dont come round very often in this country anyway, always wise to grab them when you can, save the rest for a rainy day.

You already said it and I think you have the right idea. Those things that can be put off a little for once...put them off. Time that you have for you...is priceless and you can't get that back. Your poem is excellent and it is only exceeded by the beautiful painting you made. You are so talented...but you don't need me to tell you that...you already know

Horses? Got an extra room there? Housework is pretty unimportant in the big picture. Life is for living, and as you said, "perfect days are rare". Enjoy your day,
