MERRY GO ROUNDPROMISESPROMISES...

by D. Enise — Read all 64 poems by D. Enise

How our own minds can keep us in unhealthy relationships, playing on fairy tale images of our youth, slivers of hope.. Until the mind finally wins over the heart...... We have choices in life

Poem Artwork
Promises broken,
Shadow the heart
Like the dark takes the light,
As day becomes night.

The slivers of light
that reach to the heart
Rays of hope
by one promise kept,

A Merry-go round
the patterns we weave
a circle of hopes,
of broken dreams

Blackened the sands
grasping to climb
The sand filters back,
with each promised dream

More promises broken
deeper the fall
With one promise kept
the heart then does soar
"Perhaps there is hope"!
of the dreams coming true
This time perhaps,
the promise is real!

The Merry-go round
the patterns we weave
Up, and then down... Please!
Please, Please!

Anxiety builds, so then the despair,
With each promise given desires to hope,
Fairy tale dreams of since a lost youth.
Slivers of hope, dance in the heart,
promises broken falls the heart to new depths

The slivers of light,
The hope of a Dream,
The less promises broken,
the more we believe.

Then goes on,, ever more
and down once again,
Further the fall..

Promises broken, the day becomes Night
Sliver of light, as we get off the ride
New hopes and new dreams
of promises kept
The only true promises,
We make to ourselves. A Place in the Hearts ~Cowboys-n-Cowgirls~
