Paper
I sit here numb - numb from the pain - too tired to fight about it anymore - too hurt to feel the sting -
my pen lay there on the nightstand wondering why I hadn't picked it up - it knew too well my heart was filled with words - words I didn't have a way to set free.
The paper's edges danced in the fan's wind - a breeze from the window uplifted the white sheets - they flew through the air, finding their way to me - I shooed the pages away - tears fell because my words were gone - no - not gone just hiding
too afraid - to afraid to feel the pain - to numb to flinch from the sting - I sat there, paper flying everywhere wondering what word would make everything okay - I cried because my words went away -
too tired to fight about it anymore - too sad to complain - I picked up a knife and in the wood I carved one single word - one word that cut so deep - one word that explained it all -
