“She'd have to be"
That guy who opens up and pours his heart out all at once,
Never pretentious, deceiving or having an ulterior motive
in doing so.
Call it naivete, or stupidity for exposing his game,
filled with flaws, mistakes and character defects
that would make those with no shame to their games,
flush with a spine tingling feeling and blush,
in three shades of red.
That guy who reads a newspaper
from front to back covers
Even stopping by the obituaries to see who was not famous
enough to be eulogized on the idiot boxes in our kitchens,
bathrooms, living rooms or whatever,
Like how I found out that the Ramen Noodles creator
died last year without a stately funeral.
I wouldn't have known unless I read the obits that day.
That guy who sees all the great little people
who put this world together bit by bit, bite by bite,
and we give ourselves credit for being the first to try it.
That guy who opens a dialogue with a special girl way over yonder,
all the way live from New York, it's Tuesday Night!
Only to lose her to the man who was there all the time,
in her neighborhood, on her front porch, in her backyard,
close enough to her kitchen window that he can tell
what she's got cookin'
All a man like me can say is wow, yo baby, you lookin' good,
check this out,
this and that, that and this and such and such and blahzay skip it we.
You know what um sayin'? From a distance.
Anyway, that guy who is the first to comment her pics
only for the other guy to find flaws in his game
so he can give him a painful cock block that takes her attention
away from his intentions for a gratified "f*** over"
That man that wants her but hasn't been in a relationship
in so long he doesn't know the rules of engagement, tactics
and strategies to instinctively know how she thinks, feels,
suggests, hints, urges, and leaves him intuitively blind
to the message she sent him which subtly says,
you might get a play. but not today cause there's this other guy.
The other guy with his charm, handsome looks, intelligence, physique
and sex appeal comes along and swoops her in
like an eagle robbing another of its delicious meal.
It may not be fair but that's life.
All is fair in love and war.
She has a certain je ne sais quoi about her.
It's that thing like a feminine magnet making my soul pulsate to due north.
Yes, I would want to be with her.
Any man would be dumb to not say “yes” to such vibrating matter
that is hot as the sun which gives warmth and life to my world.
However, I'm just that guy like the good ole chocolate dog
who retrieves the duck – duck - goose
only having another man taking home the prize.
Her heart.
In the final analysis,
she'd have to be crazy to want to be with me.
Therefore, I rest my case to the mercy of God.
for Odilia, this is my poem to you,
Andre
