Human compassion is grand We’re here to help each other

As I watched the tragedy unfold I became helpless and sad And so was the rest of the world I lost the ability to express Didn’t know where to begin My being had gone into recess I became a recluse Trying to hide from reality Hoping that it was just a ruse I pretended it was a dream I’ll soon wake up And escape the scream How will they survive? The world comes together as one And help them to revive Human compassion is grand We’re here to help each other Because we share the same stand

Your poem opens with the thought of many, that all you can give is sympathy. But, when the world pulls together in compassion, Haiti will smile again.

Another excellent rendering in verse.
It is a most dire tragedy indeed,but as your poem so beautifully states, we're here to help each other.
