George Jackson & Eileen

~~*~~

Steeped in darksome reveries

Hovering over me like  dense

Shadows from unknown places

Like flimsy patterns in the fog

Shadows of indifference that

Taunt the heart, haunt the soul

Invades the mind like gray matter

You lie in an ocean of ebony dreams

Interspersed thoughts if the sun will rise

With the dawn, or shall shadows

hog another day, they creep into every

Orifice and twine around the synapses

They seep into the veins and flood

Throughout the body until you

Are totally imbued with the dark

Madness of disdain and indifference

As it robs your mind and your sanity

Until you start to wonder if perhaps

They ever even existed at all, here

In these darkened spaces that dwell

In the nowhere land between thought

And communication, a drifter on seas

Of silent anguish as you go about the

Motions of everyday life, teeth gritted

In what you hope is a smile to mask a

Longing with no tangible source, origins

Unknown yet always there, an almost

 Physical manifestation that seems caught

In your throat with a taste like old pennies

That cannot be dislodged, until the day is

Finally over, and that lump rises to the surface

Of what you have become, to spill over in a

Flood of bitter tears that are every bit as silent

As that inner sea from which they came.

"Two heads are better than one", a silly myth, indeed, because the full force and knowing impact of human emotion is clearly involved from both your heads here... this is seamless, not a marker anywhere that one wrote this, the other that. To be that "tuned in" to your subject and to deliver it with such honest passion is amazing.

Oh, how I found myself here. The word "ebony" is exactly right for the visions cast by it in this.

A line that collapsed me? Try this one:

"as you go about the

Motions of everyday life, teeth gritted"

I'm keeping this one for its poetic brilliance... I won't forget it because of that line. my, my.......katy xox.

You two do 'dark' very well together.

This is such a great collaboration! The darkened shadows of your verses seep into the corners of fear that we all keep hidden in the deep recesses of our mind. This reads like a twisted dream that leaves the dreamer in a cold sweat, exhausted and confused when they awaken. Very, very nice!

Take care,

This is like a labyrinth, taking you around dark corners of the mind, thinking this is the way out only to find a dead end or a false wall... haunting, haunting atmosphere. Beautiful writing.

Your ending is superb, but I'm not sure that the ending actually brings the reader out of that labyrinth.

I loved this:

...rises to the surface

Of what you have become, to spill over in a

Flood of bitter tears that are every bit as silent

As that inner sea from which they came.

You two do good things.

Dark, thought-provoking; this gives me goosebumps. Perhaps I read too much into it but I feel like possession of some kind is lurking. Well done. Great collaborative effort and result. Thank you. Love and peace. Regis
