Poem Artwork

In the mountains softly falling
Snow had come gently calling
Like storybook patterns crystaline
Sparkling diamonds steal the scene

Sitting by the fireplace in  fires glow
Watching it unfold out my window
All warm and snuggly in my favorite chair
Sipping a hot toddy, finger twirling my hair

A silent night, perhaps a holy night
I lift my thoughts to the maker of lights
In thanks for the beauty I'm privileged to see
As I watch unfold, natures  mystery

Except for the beautiful flakes that fall
Nothing is moving the world's in a stall
So still the moment I hold my breath
Imagining what I will feel like in death

The hush of winter whispers magic and beauty into our soul through your words, Eileen. Wonderful tribute to the King of kings and Lord of lords!

Merry Christmas!

Agree with Sherry below, your poem epitomises the incredible hush and stillness that follows a heavy fall of snow Eileen
It is in these precious moments we can savor the joy of life, and the promise of eternal life with the " Maker of Lights " !
This is so beautiful and serene to read and digest today !

Nothing in the world like sitting by the soothing fire, hot toddy in hand, and gazing out the window watching Nature's mysteries unfold. Lovely poem and pic, Tiger Lily

Some more beautiful wordplay from AD's formost sppinner of exquisite poetry. Such profound phrases. It is a paradox that under the very same majestic sky others are planting seeds of destruction for innocent people.

"Maker of lights" I like that title for God. :-) Life and death, the wise person contemplates both. ~~Nordette

Geez, I'm with Sherry. I'm all awash in the peacefulness and mystery and here comes death creeping in again (have read several other poems which touch on the subject tonight). But there's something that connects birth and death, the silent with the holy, and your poem made me think about how we are cradled in life and in death and given the opportunity to fall like snowflakes upon the wind. enjoy the mountains! Beautiful poem, Eileen but your last line took my by surprise. I suspect that death will know such peace and tranquility, though I always think of the rush and the light. You paint such a beautiful picture with your words that they caused me to recall the amazing quiet when the snow falls and puts a certain hush on the world.

Take care,

Sherry
