What mythical realm gave birth to
This dark angel of dubious design
I'm living within a dream
Where tortured thoughts combine
With charitable good deeds
From heavens beneficent hands
All shared by nefarious seeds
From deep dark distant lands

Duality divides a soul
It cannot last forever
Chosen minds must be whole
Not split to suit ones pleasure
Alas, with such strong desires
I must fulfill  whims
Can't deny passions fire
All of life is a big swim

Into  indigo starry skies
My flight follows path of myth
I can lose myself in alibies
When it's Botis I travel with
Indulgent memories fill my mind
While hopes of humanity fall
I heed the need to be more kind
I return to help those who call

I love this Gothic literary style!! Basalt textured darkness with a talon grip with shades of gray eminence. My interpretation of Dubious Black Angel is connecting her death with her afterlife, extending her dual function from mere creator to Universal Goddess whose powers pervade all of nature. I see this as giving form to a deep process of the evolution of historical dimension as the coming back of the feminine principle into the patriarchal world. I sure wouldn't exclude you from a heavenly feast, Eileen! You could teach us all a lesson in kindness. Blessed Be.

Now you gave me the chills! Some times... temptetion calls and some times we fall for its alluring charms. It is a devided road we walk and keeping firm to our conscience is mighty hard. You've written this very well; message clear as a bell.

I have to agree this is complex and double minded but then so are we humans we can to do right and not be shelfish and indulged in ourselves. I really was impacted by the finale lines a very inspiring ending. Happy New Year's Eileen.

Talk about double-mindedness... you and me seem to be "twinning" here.. sort of, according to Andy's comments anyway. Yes, yes, yes... Nordette nails this so well; tis the peculiar passion and poison of the single-minded faithful to retain holism and focus whilst yet remaining in touch, humble and accessible, perhaps. Jesus speaks of being "in the world but not of the world"; I think He refers to being fully immersed in life and yet set apart in the inner parts for God; sanctified, therefore, but not "holier than thou"; internal but not external separation. Even so, balance is NEVER, in my book, easy to achieve. But at least we are not totally deaf to the call to return to the "main thing", perhaps. Prodigals have a special place in my heart, cos we are ALL one when it comes down to it... Sorry, I digress because your poem is an introspective piece, rather than about the resultant practice. Can certainly relate to this inner struggle... in common with the rest of humankind, I guess. Epic, Eileen, thank you. HNY again! K xx

Oh, the plight of the dedicated faithful, to not be doubleminded. :-) Great write, Eileen. I've been tossing around similar thoughts, not to write about, but for my own personal walk. Happy New Year!

We always know that there is room for improvement in ourselves, but we need to also understand that change is a gradual process not something that we decide upon one day and it is in effect for the rest of our lives. I am not so certain that our Creator thinks a lot of what we have been taught to be bad, truly is. I think we need to set our own guidelines and strive to live within them and not be emotionally battered by someone else’s interpretation of God's Rules. I have made resolutions that I have been able to keep and those that I have set too high to obtain in a short period of time...I still strive towards those, but I am a better person, and that is a feat in itself. We are human; let us revel in that instead of beating ourselves up. If we were perfect, think of how difficult it would become to accept others into our world. "Love God, love thyself, love others and consistently strive toward personal improvement"...not so much a resolution as a guide for my life. This year's resolution...to take better care of myself, physically...that one is doomed, but I keep trying...now where did I hide those cookies???? ;)

Take care,

Sherry

We are born with duality within us all, Light and Darkness
What seperates us and makes us complete, is the Grace of God
To his chosen ones, Light eventually comes to the fore Eileen !
A very intriguing and enlightened composition
