Poem Artwork

The children gambol
happily frolicking in the sun
kicking the sandy beach
on blankets, as adults yell

Seagulls squawking their say
Hoping people will leave
So they can get to the garbage
Some carelessly leave behind

One couple entwined
Unaware of  the mundane
Lost in the lap of love
Unashamed of their erotica

A few lads making sand castles
Snickering as they watch
Getting a boost in their education
Among other things

The lazy waves at midday
Curling closer and closer
As the tide prepares
To get higher

Sun at its peak
Burning some who seek
To look like bronzed beauties
On magazine covers

All breathing in the balmy air
Covered by a sky of blue
On a picture perfect day
At the seashore

While the sand critters
Go their way undaunted
And the sea creatures
Bemoan the invasion of their home

I hope that guy has a rag with him..he keeps sitting beneath all those gulls and he's gonna need one! lol
Eileen, you painted this perfectly. Only now I'm eager for summer all over again! But it felt good to remember the warmth of the season, and the fun by the water.

A lovely, tranquill write, Eileen. I spent my youth on the beach in Southern California, this brings back so many memories. I was that unashamed girl a few days a week, breaking hearts and having fun. Those were great times! It would be more than a little bit dangerous acting like that in these times, but life was a whole lot simpler then and a whole lot less serious. Nothing you could get that Penicillin couldn't cure! LOL
Take care,
Sherry

"One couple entwined
Unaware of the mundane
Lost in the lap of love

Eileen, these lines say a lap full of proverb about time limit. "If you don't do something about this by 3:30 tomorrow afternoon."

Life is full of situations. We have to handle it in our own timeframe. When the opportunity presents itself, you have to pry open the oyster to get the pearl. Otherwise we are stuck in the ordinariness of everyday life. There are alot of Whys in our life. To the inquisitive, we have to know Why "the lazy waves at midday"
You've captured a timeless and serene picture with these words. Your perception of this plane of life soars.

I was "there" during this reading. And the picture, ahhhhh. I like the way you described so many ways that people and creatures see the beach. Or see themselves at the beach. Excellent, Eileen!

All the drama, excitement and amusement to be found on the beach on a lazy, hazy summer day !
You depict it as it is, within your own observations and perceptions Eileen
Fascinating in depth look into human nature !
