Poem Artwork

thoughts blooming in head shout
like flowers when ready to sprout

the dawn creeps up unaware
poems are flowing through my hair

i've been awake thru dark of night
images of words trapped in sight

vacation means nothing to this brain
one half knows, other half  is insane

forget the fact you're feeling had
grab the pen,  and find your pad

make ink patterns in poetic phrase
as ideas seep through brains haze

let it soar like wind through trees
before your senses start to freeze

the mania must extract its due
you feel guilty, whatever you do

go on, write, write, write, away
don't wait until it goes astray

Write, damn pen, write! Better to have an insatiable muse than have the words go dry.

love your rhyme! "the mania must extract its due" indeed and much better to write it out than the alternative chaos inside. Dawn

You must capture the moment in the moment, and always be ready when inspiration strikes. Sometimes it only strikes once. Sometimes you just have to force yourself.

Maniacal and fickle muse I reckon.

Hey ... go scuba diving Eileen, tell me if you find any bodies. I've heard some pretty scary tales about that lake!

You epitomise the life of a professional poet..
Our muse is never on Vacation
And we need pen and paper handy at all times..LOLS

Relax and enjoy yourself on the idyllic Lake Tahoe..

My muse has no problem taking vacations. But you have to jot down everything when he is active.

So true, living it! You've shed a whole new light on writers who experience the "block." What can I say (oops I mean write) except that I just love the imagination and inspiration from "Maniacal Muse." My best, Gloria

So much for that vacation. I quite understand it, however.
