Darkness wends its way in nightmarish fashion
Casting a cadeverous cloak  around shoulders
The fog of futility determined to smother

Twixt light and dark, shadings of mediocrity
Conditional routine puts creativity in limbo
A wet blanket dampens the struggle to excel

Variegated colors are absent  from the mind
Instead a pale flat line of indifference prevails
Only self flagellation threatens the apathy

Like smoke from wildfires causing a heavy pall
Breathing becomes difficult eyes burn with tears
Everything  has the same odor

A seed of doubt has been planted  in the psyche
Like a dog with a bone it nags to be answered
Words have become a millstone round the neck

This is the poets response to her personal suffering. The hope of new bodies, without pain and suffering, looms large in my mind and we press forward into aging.

Everything has the same odor, <------------ This stanza for me, describes what goes on inside and outside me when bad, really bad news hits my reality. The moment I realize the enormity, this....is what I becaome if only for a split second. Awesome write!!!

"Seeds of Doubt"

A SUPERB WRITE, top shelf to me!

Often time the obligent servant deal with the "Seeds of Doubt"
mission to go into the per se flame to retrieve the Lord's valuable
treasure(s)/asset. Be it an individual to be rescued or a "Seed of Hope"to be planted.

"Only the strong survive" Each of us are only given what the Father knows we can carry no more no less.

Your words are resounding, thank you for your wonderful work
I appreciate it tremendously!

All the best to you,
Gwendolyn

A dark write you have scribed here but one with great depth...you have blended emotion and strong imagery so well. I particularly liked the stanza Like smoke from wildfires causing a heavy pall Breathing becomes difficult eyes burn with tears Everything has the same odour...Seeds of doubt can indeed be powerful but should be nipped in the bud giving room for more positive growth. Great write Eileen. Love Panda :)

All that is beautiful still surrounds us, and we must find a way to concentrate on the positive when negative tries to creep in. Excellent poem of the darkness that fills our soul when we allow the "Seeds of Doubt" to grow.
Take care,
Sherry

A poetic walk through the valley of shadows and weariness. The great gift of these lines, for this reader, is that the narrator in the poem recognizes where he or she is and consequently is empowered with wisdom to wait for strength then move forward when it comes. Truly love the emotional depth and courageous soulfulness of SEEDS OF DOUBT.

You've been pickin' me mind lately, haven't you, Eileen?? LOL

But those seeds are long gone; God saw to that! He keeps on blessing me! Very well done, Eileen; brava!

this poem is almost frightening to me. Especially the line 'only self flagellation threatens the apathy'. We can be our own worst enemies at times.

Those seeds of doubt must never be allowed to take up home in our mind and psyche..
Deter them in the ante room of your subconscious..
Powerful work

Deep expressions of the dark side......
You need to get away spirtually
even better if you can physically
turn off the pc......don't look at pen and paper
and go visit a friend, have company, try something new...........

and lose that millstone........

sometimes a fresh start is worth a thousand words
or just a hug

Bead woman, carefully with a seed bead needle and tiny, tiny seed beads in every color imaginable to represent diversity and creativity has sewn on with needle and thread, 17,000 seed beads on a calabash gourd, not one seed of doubt planted in her colorful mind, each bead the alchemy process by which bane transforms to a mystical pattern of creative goodness of integration and we recognize the difference between misunderstanding and honest, hard work to excel in the marketplace where we price our words and beads...

this one is so deep, i can't touch it. But what i get from it is to always be kind and nurturing to your children. Never critical. Also reminds me of a bible verse, "though i talk with the voice of men and the tongue of Angels, Without love, i am but a resounding gong"

My, My, this is indeed sad. Great choice of words for a dark poem. The seeds of doubt are everywhere. It is up to us to get out of such moods. Victor

I hope these dark shadows of doubt are all in a poetic form and not haunting you into the forlorn.
