I now take refuge in the night
where once the sun was my delight
dark hides what causes eyes to fester
the disease of societies haste to fight
mind littered with muddled debris
heart aching from desire for flight

We blame war, politics,religion,nations
yet changes over years of all these things
haven't changed our cultures fixations
humanity is of itself,  the real culprit
Expecting one man to solve our frustrations
we all need to examine our expectations

So many relationships always boiling over
harmony and balance should be our cover
we're in a political season filled with hate
once again best of friends turn on each other
this doesn't have to be the way we act
can't we use dignity as a barometer

Thank Creator, no matter humanities mood
the beauty of nature abounds, is always there
loved ones still want what is best for each other
babies and children still need our loving care
happiness is still here for those who are fair
above all we need more devotional  prayer

Absolutely! Prayer is the best refuge we can seek. I, too, am frustrated over the bitterness, intolerance, greed, un-holiness that hovers over our heads worse than a polution of ash. How apropos that you should use the picture of Christ at Gethsemane. Very touching, Eileen!

You've taken negatives, turned them into positive and promoted harmony through example. Bravo to you dear Sis!! Now we all need to look at living through your pen.

the power of prayer is to believe the prayer has already been answered ... "even before you ask, I will have answered" in reality prayers are "answered" before the prayer is offered ... we just need to recognize and accept it will occur ...

fantastic poem ...

Amen & Amen.

God bless you, Eileen, for this heartfelt plea from a sound mind.

If we keep The LORD at the center of our prayers & lives, we will not attack the people - just the policies - and that, with much dignity!

Beautiful picture to reflect upon, too...How often Mankind breaks His heart...when all He wanted, was to save THEM. It makes me weep...

Thank you, Sister
Much Love, Rhonda

Eileen ...

You are an enigma of creative juices. Between your post ANYONE FOR A BATH, last night, and RUFUGE ... I'd say that you have come full circle, and with an unproblematical degree of panache.

You are a potpourri of creative expression overflowing from a cornucopia that's connected directly to your honest heart.

You rock Den Mother ...

Sometimes I think that's all we have left, the beauty of nature which we are trying hard to destroy. One day nature will turn against us too....if it has not already done so. Very inspirational poem Victor

Ah, there is not one special phrase to pick out and expound upon, the whole damn poem is special. Mankind is progressing, yes, indeed, we do things never before thought of, but we are wallowing within our own ineptitude as far as our moral compass is concerned. This is the theme of the novel I am writing touches on. Martin Rayne Kirby, tired of the world goes back home to Three Corners searching for his own "trinity." Good, Eilen.
