In autumns fading leaves I see
the winter that has come early
it's like the love I hold so dear
that turned on me, and now is drear
the seasons as they come and go
mirror our lives in ebb and flow
how similar those mixed emotions
wax and wane twixt hate and devotion
relationships that lack fulfillment
need hard work to have contentment
as trees become bare in winters scene
we turn our hopes to a fertile spring

We admire the colors of Autumn and we look further to the colors of spring...promary colors to pastel beauify You give us a fresh look after winter clears the debris and new growth opens the windows for a fresh new season. Don't ya just love the wonder of nature?

Susan

So often I've used the changing seasons as a metaphor for life and you've done the same in this poem but so effectively. I always enjoy your work Eileen.

Talk about winter coming early? We had snow and hail a few days ago! Didn't expect that until Thanksgiving week, at least I was hoping to have low heating bills 'til then! LOL! Extrememly well expressed poem, Eileen!

There is always hope :-) As winter approaches I often tell people.....just think we are just a few months away from spring! I am learning to enjoy being single knowing the day will come when once again my life will be committed with another soul and their needs and enjoying every moment of the changes :-)

This is so full of emotion, Eileen. You put it so succinctly with the seasons mirroring our lives, even at times when like winter, it's bleak and dreary as with the disappointment of lost love.
Excellent poem.

CJ

As go the seasons, so go the seasons of our lives. Some are hot, some transitional and some freeze our heart and our soul. There is always a rebirth if we believe that we deserve it and have the strength to will it so. Beautiful melancholy write, Eileen. Autumn is just starting here and the trees in the Bosque are turning golden, just teasing with the vibrant reds that will cover them in another week, before fading to brown and making a warm blanket on the earth for the winter leaving her pregnant with the promise of Spring.
Take care,
Sherry
