I see the words I'm writing
through a foggy mist
the urge to continue too strong
there's no way  to resist

Peripheral vision is spinning
I'm using imagination for eyes
if I don't get to finish this
I humbly apologize

The poem I was hoping to write
has totally deserted my brain
this  poor excuse for  a substitute
should be flushed down the drain

The teapot is singing ready
scones in the oven are done
so I eat, read, write, and rave
Oh my! a poet's life is such fun

~~~
One of my new meds blurred my vision
so badly I can hardly see. Hope to make up commenting soon. Wasted time onthis drivel!;-)  I'm addicted to posting need I say more;-)!
You are not the only one with this addiction...and as Jude puts it, withdrawal is NO fun...I know...nothing YOU write from the heart and soul is drivel...take care of the self, you are number one...Ed & Rufuz
i find it interesting to consider poetry as an addiction ... writing as a fix ... withdrawal is no fun ... cooking up the poem is the real thrill, isn't it?
It is an easy addiction to have, Eileen. In a way, I think that I am fortunate that I don't have the time to write down most of my poetic conceptions. Most of my poems only live long enough to amuse me, so rare it is that I am able to remember them long enough to get them onto the page and into the den.
Take care,
Sherry
Well, every time we step back we find a way to go ahead. It's the energy and drive. You will find that crack in the surface and push on through. I'll wait for you as I've been there too.
Susan
ain't it though? Hope your feeling better, but actually it was pretty darn funny writing, for writing under the influence...Hmmm? You just gave me an idea! :) LOL!
Very cleverly written, Eileen!
I know the feeling. Things distract me in life but I always find myself coming back to AD. Like a second home.
Blessings to you,
~Linda
Well it's damn good for something you call drivell. My daughter looks like Mr. McGoo trying to see her computer. Why don't you girls wear glasses.
Yeah Sugar Chum ... but it's honest, and it captured your emotions exactly, and I dug it! No one can ever blame you for being dishonest or pretentious like some I know. You rock! Tell the doctor about the side-effects, and then cuss out the over paid pecker-head for prescribing it. (-:
Love and Blessings to you ...
