Poem Artwork

The light of day was waning
My heart was feeling cold
With the darkness gaining
Loves story still untold

Lest I be caught in twilight
Forever and a day
I must find ways to requite
The light that goes astray

So hungry is the corner dark
That does not get the beam
It yearns to see at least a spark
But sun witholds it's gleam

Then dark descends to cover all
Light hasn't got a chance
Til at some point the two must meet
To do a mating dance

When dance is over comes the fight
Will stygian have its way
Or will the force field of the light
Be strong enough to sway

Soon  time comes to illuminate
It appears clear and bright
Yet still in corners adumbrate
A shadow of the  night

Just when we think night has its way
Alas the light  begins its day

This is fantastic, Eileen, as it is written and through its metaphoric application. Beauty, peace and grace illuminate this entire poem.

And the darkness always leads us to light, doesn't it, Eileen. Thank you. As always, your pen is incredibly blessed! This poem and its accompanying picture are stellar.

You blend emotion into wonderfully rich imagery in this almost ritualistic 'dance' you describe. Compelled to be bound but never together, as Jude says, dusk and dawn are special moments if you can catch them. Stunning Lady M. Love as ever, Panda :)

it's ironic, the light of stars can only be seen in darkness and the depths of our dreams take hold in its caress and when the light of day begins to reveals itself, we awake to see only what we have grown to know ... that's why twilight is special, it acknowledges a bit of both ...

beautifully scribed, Eileen ...

You draw the reader into the shadows of this poem only to expose him/her to the light. Nicely done and I like the way you introduce new vocabulary into your poems ala Shakespeare's penchant to have a new word in each of his poems.

LIGHT UNTO NIGHT reads for me like a miniature cosmic drama that plays out, paradoxically, in a gigantic way, somewhat like a tug of war between killing depression and elevated bliss. Love the expressed persistence of belief/hope and the conclusive shining ray of victory.

Yet both realms serve a purpose equally profitable to life.
It's fascinating how day has, over the centuries, has become synonomous with good, and night with bad.
Most romantics walk under the moonlight. Dinner by candle not sunlight, and who can forget 'The second star to the right, shines in the night, for you...' Guess which film that's from?

I feel mischievious tonight, E.T. Evocative poem - rich image too.

Dai

For a reason it is an ingridient of life.

A real mind bender of a poem. This idea may be the toughest one to get a grip on. The flow, the slow go always beyond our reach. Great poem. s/henry

Nothing remains the same for two consecutive moments. Heraclitus said we can never bathe twice in the same river. Confucius, while looking at a stream, said, "It is always flowing, day and night." The Buddha implored us not just to talk about impermanence, but to use it as an instrument to help us penetrate deeply into reality and obtain liberating insight.

"...Just when we think night has its way
Alas the light begins its day..."

Another gem.

Love,
Bette
