I am the month of May my days are fair Sprites put Lilys of the Valley in my hair They place an Emerald ring on my finger Named me after the greek goddess Maia I'm a happy month in between last of Winter and just before summer looms The time when flowers begin to bloom Maypoles appear for playful celebrations I am observed in almost all the nations Cinco De Maya is a delightful time We honor our Mothers day with rhyme So take a break from work and weary ways Enjoy the pleasures of the finest May Days
Don't forget to honor our Military even if we hate war and are against the present ones, appreciate armed forces, for how they bravely protect us!
Loved this write! Wonderful memories of yesteryears...a wonderful tribute to our serviceman. Enjoyed this much!

I thought the maypole was an English thing...
All the girls wanting a hubby dance around the maypole. maidenspole. till they get chosen.....I'd rather we'd brought Cricket and football over, hah and the moris dancers..

A fantastic write! I love the weaved lines of May...it brought memories of days gone by and I also loved the last verse to the service members...God Bless Them!! You've penned a great poem E.T.,...thanks for sharing.
The roses buds of May, perhaps wearing one on the uniform lapel will make all men a less aggresive?
Although Marines month falls on the 10th of November, I will remember all my brothers and sisters in the Armed Forces, prying for those in active duty for a safe return.

Thank you Eileen, for this wonderful tribute to what I think is the greatest month of the year. And thank you very much for remembering our men in uniform. You're right. No matter our opinion on this or any other war, we must honor their bravery.
Why the Soviets confiscated May Day in a show of power and oppression, I'll never know. Yours is a far more favorable view I'll cherish until war is banished forever.
May is devoted to Mary, Jesus mother, by all Catholics as well. This is indeed a glorious month to acknowledge everyone so that we may one day know true peace. Splendid poem.
May is a month of uncertainty that leads the way into the long days of summer. She is a sweet warm breath beckoning the earth to awaken and send forth the sprouting seeds of promise left to sleep, awaiting he call. This is a beautiful and serene poem, Eileen, welcoming thoughts of hope for a season of pleanty.
