I don't think people actually fear death itself as much as the circumstances surrounding it.
I personally want to go peacefully in my sleep, like my grandfather,

Much gratitude for the Sunday evening poem-sermon. The last two lines alone form a resounding response to doubts some may entertain about time and energy spent cultivating "gifts of the spirit."
Beautiful write Eileen...one I can so relate to...but I know too, that where we go, is what we spend a lifetime on earthing seeking...Fine work dear poet ! ..

Losing a loved one is difficult and your right we do learn ways to deal with it no matter what we believe; simply because it will happen again, and to us at some point. I have several close friends that are going through this experience right now. I spend a lot of time in nature at the moment to balance the effect of their pain and my own from losing my father recently. Your poem captures this quite well.
