Pine Creek In Gallatin National Forest, Montana,

Poem Artwork

The old stone bridge crossed over a glorious
Fast flowing waterfall , burst over rocks below
And ran rampant into the stream

With it went my precious dream, screaming
A lament in doleful aria,  operatic fashion
Of riotous passion in suns golden gleam

The magnificent day of  peaceful celebration
Derailed by notice of a war declaration
Calling to arms the youth of our nation

Causing men and women to hastily engage
In affairs of the heart without hesitation
Partying in uninhibited passionate copulation

Changing the world not for better, but worse
Will we never learn that war is a futile curse
All generations, suffer wars malevolent misery

The waterfall of life is a mesmerizing mystery

Another beautiful write that stirs up the imagination. I love John Leko's response about this poem. I could have not written a better response. You are the master of Penmanship my Dear.

Sometimes the waterfall speaks of pain in all generations with the falling voice...water and war...emotion and turmoil.
Well done...

Yes, I'd say I agree with that last stanza, but until everyone agrees to live out a Divine plan (of God's making not their own) we're stuck with it (actually if only a little over 75% of the world population were to turn to Goodness, wars would be diverted according to the Hindu sages)You're another fine poet to make us think on these things.

War is a futile curse, and a very ancient one, as History shows us. If only it could be another way, and I love that last line and photo.

I maintain that war in its many forms, i.e, husband and wife, children and parents, neighbors, or countries is a human trait which will never be defeated. Why would we expect for nations to shy away from war when the war of the sexes and other "personal" wars are unleashed each and every day. Don't know if I am making myself clear, but I tried. As far as "make love, not war" goes, that is nice to say and write, but as we all know, there's than thin line between love and hate, then comes war . . . Edwin say the sixties was a time of innocence . . . How very wrong is that statement . . . The "beautiful" people were anything but peaceful . . .

Oooo... you and me is on the same page today, Eileen... Make love not war seems to be the age-old mantra of the free-living 60s that could do with a bit of reinvention and a fashion come-back. On a serious note, when the clarion of war brings our worlds crushing in on us, then all is let loose, for good or for bad. You make us ponder which way we will jump when it happens to us... towards restraint or away from it. The pace of this write matches the crashing of thoughts, ending with a more quietly-stated little eddy (oops... no pun intended, honest!) at the end. (Ah, the stream of consciousness is SUCH a gas...) TY Kate xx

Yes, many of us did 'engage in affairs of the heart without hesitation ...'

We knew not whether these valiant young men would return from Viet Nam, so we gave our heart [freely] to THAT one particular young man. Sadly, when he returned I'd married another - that was his wish. He wasn't sure how or if he'd return.

Our love was a casualty of war.

Yes, 'the waterfall of life is a mesmerizing mystery.' It's the water that keeps us alive, both physically and metaphorically.
An imcomprehensible need of "man" - this thing called war.

As long as people are greedy for money, power and respect,
wars will never end until Christ puts an end to it.

The fallout of the utopian sixties is well expressed here. Great write and the pic is stunning. I was a bit young (yeah me) to experience that period, but it seems it was the end of innocence, which spawned a politcally correct society where people are now afraid to voice their opinion, the facts, or the truths. Funny how the movement against the "Man" became the "Man". Ok then...rambilng on...but the "Partying in uninhibited passionate copulation" doesn't sound bad!!! lol :)
