Poem Artwork

I heard the sounds
they beckoned me
like hounds were
 on my balcony
I had to  take a look
since I felt akin
gave up reading book
went out to join in

If I'm not prepared
to share the night
with winters
 holy haloed moon
If I'm not ready to
bask in its  light
then I cannot sing
a mystic tune

I do not know
why wolves bay
under this pale orb
while snow soft falls
nor do I know
why barn owls stay
In evenings icy trees
when winter calls

Yet deep inside me
feelings arise
humming within
a soulful melody
I too must sing
under moonlit skies
with animals
in natures rhapsody

you have poetically captured the lure of luna and the mysterious essence of the call of the night -- it calls not to one man nor beast, but to all who under the ebon sky reside --- peace and love to you my friend -- JMW

Dear ET, are you sure that those howlings aren't coming from a pirate's ship?
