Eileen, I'm not sure if you realize how profound this poem really is. It strikes out at a level of the human psychi which we don't talk about; afterall, who likes to say they feel incomplete? Well done!

What a sorrowful life for one to be living alone, and be without dreams? One has to love oneself in order to another. Unfortunately, there are some who doesn't know how to dream and love, and resent those who do.

Life is what we make of it. Be a happy person, and always have dreams!!! The poorest person in this world are ones who has given up on their dreams to love!!!

Sometimes I am sad when I see people who have bailed out on the search for love and live vicariously through steamy movies or novels that tantalize but don't fulfill. You've captured the essence of that yearning for love by someone is is resigned to living without it. This poem is provocative in so many ways, Eileen. Well done.

They said that when the cat has been scalded by hot milk...it will see a cow and start to cry.
Many are "single" not for choice but because they didn't know how to handle fire and burned they fingers so bad that one night stands are the ones that give them a head start to run away of any situation leading to another heart BBQ.

Hello Eileen! Although dreams are nice, it can't beat the real thing. I've been single for 10 years after my divorce and recently got married! :)) I don't think dreams can be a substitute for reality, it just helps in passing the time away until the real deal comes along. ET, You have delved into quite a question...For me, I am single for 6 years now, and I have to tell you, the longer I am alone, the more difficult it is to share what you have and who you are. It is so easy not having to answer to anyone, but yourself, to be completely reliant on only yourself, and knowing that you can survive without anyone's help. The flip side is that you do become lonely and I feel eventually, reclusive..I do want to share my life with someone, but I am very particular about who that person will be... I can do whatever I want so I will wait for the "right man".

Good questions presented here- I think it's a little bit of both, but what the heck do I know, lol?? I suppose being a dreamer, I would like to think the dreams we dreams can someday come true, if not exactly as we dreamed, then in the way they are supposed to. I really love how this poem makes the reader think.

Sometimes, dreams are more beautiful than realities. Many people choose to live in dreams because of that. Dreams can be wonderful, and it's certainly not a wrong thing to have dreams. The poorest person is one who does not have a dream.

"live alone,and rarely date"

Though Rene & I have been engaged for quite sometime, the above line is me...obviously the dating part I cannot really do, though I have no desire anyway to do so, but living alone I have done mostly all of my life...if not for Rufuz I would never go out of my camper...;-) ed & Rufuz
