There are meadows
with vagrant violets
they grow amidst
daunted derelicts
kings and clerics
ministers and laic
of cast-off crowns
ever  renowned
pontiffs , peasants
peacocks, pheasants
defrocked, dispelled
headed towards hell
no more lies to tell
nor people to sell
down the drain
for power fame
heads hit the dust
had too much lust
for control greed
left people in need
flagrant flowers
replace the powers
growing wild maybe
newborn child will be
one to make it right
in  glorious sunlight
negating judas kiss
restoring  promise

Let there be "peach on earth, good will towards man(kind)." We must never forget the promise. Well done Eileen.

Eileen,
Love everything about this, even the shape of the poem on paper... it's sharp, thrusting, rhythmic, provocative and right on the money!

people engage in games of deception to serve their lust for power -- never realizing there is only one power, and all other power is fantasy and false -- the power of God and his love are the only real powers in the universe -- you have worded this powerfully Eileen -- it hits with great realism and conviction my dear friend -- peace and love --Jon Michael

But, but, but, Eileen, I thought we have the savior in carnate / Change is coming, you give up too easily / He has a plan / For everything . . .

Sorry. Had to mini-rant / Love this poem and the way you set it up / The two- and three-word stanzas with heavy-duty meaning is just a delight to read. Stand / Clap-Clap / Bow

An exceptional flow of thought esteemed chum.
And I feel as if you are wielding a sharpened two-edged sword
in a way that i have rarely seen you do. I see, too, a metaphor
in Judas' kiss, being what pagan culture has,
and is, doing to their very own Creator.
What a day His glorious advent will be.
Blessings ...

I THINK THIS IS ONE OF YOUR VERY BEST, EILEEN... the title had me fooled, there being so many Halloween offerings around atdemo! :)) But this packs a punch with wit, charm and efficacy - and the tight form and writing is brill. Totally fabulous not-so-parable-ic! Particularly love these lines:

daunted derelicts
kings and clerics
ministers and laic
of cast-off crowns
ever renowned
pontiffs , peasants
peacocks, pheasants
defrocked, dispelled
headed towards hell

... these trip along so gaily and yet the message is so dark! Excellent stuff! xx

So simple, God's plan to keep them from going to hell, and yet, man ignores God, chooses his own path. Powerfully penned, Eileen, well done.

(((HUGS))) and love, Karla.

Among the weeds you are a precious flower, with a beautiful buguette of poetry wrapped, in a parchment of spirituel delight.

This covers quite a bit of ground
Broad and wide is the road that leads to destruction.
Narrow and straight that leads to the gate
