I've been away on unexpected family matters, just got back. A mini crisis which hopefully is now resolved. Hope to catch up soon. I've missed you,and hope you all are well. Thanks for your emails of concern.

~*~

beyond the barriers of flesh
i watch life being lived, as both
humanity and nature
perpetuates itself

from sunset to sunrise
the living drama of surprise
where sights and sounds arise
to keep me mystyfied

i watch myself reacting
being enthralled by it all
as i've always been,but my
outside view is different
than the inside one

now i question the reasons
perhaps, due to my many seasons
finally realizing there aren't as
many left,as have gone before

somehow i feel much closer to
where my next phase of life is
taking me, seeing both views
with more depth

 all has become more cherished
with more beauty, even amidst
the debris we must live through
life is a wondrous merry -go -round
my horse and i are adventure bound

etw

Growing older does have its good points! Somehow new visulas become more apparant and we gain a wisdom which wa snot there before. I'm not really sure how it happens, but it does!....M

GLAD TO KNOW THAT ALL IS WELL. YOU 'SOUND' FINE. SO MUCH HAS HAPPENED SINCE YOU'VE BEEN AWAY. GEORGE, WHO WAS IN THE HOSPITAL, WONDERED ABOUT YOU AND I FIGURED YOU WERE STILL 'SETTLING IN' AFTER YOUR MOVE. I GUESS IT MUST BE IN THE AIR, BUT WE 'SENIORS' ARE GETTING A SECOND WIND AND REALIZING THE BEAUTY OF IT. WELL DONE OFFERING AND THANKS FOR SHARING THE BEGINNING OF MANY MORE FINE WORKS TO COME. BLESSINGS AND LOVE,

So really great to see you writing again, Eileen! And bringing us inspirations to think about. What is that saying?...It's not the years in our life, but the life in our years. Something like that. Our Motto :o) Be taking care of yourself, dear friend!! Ain't having your good eyesight back a blessing? Made good difference in my life 10 years ago; started seeing the little piss-ants in my back yard again...LOL
Blessings and Love to you - Micke

WELCOME HOME! I can so relate to this thoughtful and self-reflexive write, Eileen, and have felt this way since coming very close to death in 1990. It's like you have walked through a door and back again and are confident that there is very definitely something out there in the Great Beyond which now shapes your world-view and how you relate to this material plane of existance. I genuinely have trouble understanding which side of the door my real life currently exists on at times! :)) Love the mood and tone of this and the final two lines which are like a fantasia escape from the otherwise very concretely described setting of your poem. Hope eyes, hands and other hitherto problem areas are much-improved these days, notwithstanding domestic crises! And that your new home continues to bless and delight. Fabulous to have you back. xx

Eileen, great perspective. And by the way, I hope you and your horse have many more seasons to sing "Happy Trails."

A poem that all contemplatives think about.

I couldn't help but think of the statement "youth is wasted on the young." Like you, I find that as I contemplate the beauty around me it brings to focus what life is really all about.

I am with you in prayer ... that your family crisis is on an upward spiral and glad to have you back.

God bless you,
Kathy
