A Butterfly

A butterfly
that couldn't fly
laid on the ground
and hoped to die
it watched while
others fluttered by

all it could do
was wonder why
it fell to earth
and had no worth
its only wish
was to perish
a tiny bird
was passing by
saw the helpless
butterfly
the little finch
said it's a cinch
i'll take you high
up to the sky
and let you go
then you will fly
the butterfly
said i can't fly
please let me go
just let me die
finch flew higher
than expected
amazingly
resurrected
they heard a voice
"you're in heaven
now,I saved you
to live with me
here you can fly
eternally"

Perfect allegory for someone who (me) owns to pulling the wings from butterflies as a heartbroken child expressing inexplicable pain... I believe I have read this before, Eileen, as the tears were already welling before I got to the end of the first stanza. Thank you for the redemption expressed in this.
